RTP is committed to keeping you safe when we welcome you back to the theatre.

We are pleased to share the changes we have made, as well as what we ask of you as a member of our RTP family.

All activity and precautions are being taken in accordance with regulations from the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Department of Health, and the CDC. For more information please feel free to contact us.

The success of these changes depends on all of us valuing the health and safety of the person near us. We have faith in our RTP patrons to help make this plan a success.

Our fundamental requirements:

  • Wear a mask at all time while you are inside the theater (except if drinking while seated);
  • Maintain 6-foot social distancing whenever possible;
  • Wash hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds;
  • Do not attend a performance if you are experiencing symptoms. If you cannot attend a performance due to illness, we are offering a flexible rescheduling and refund policy. Please get in touch with our Box Office! (E-mail, or call 804-346-8113)

What will be different when you visit us at RTP?

  • Make sure you have your mask on when you arrive at the RTP. Your mask is part of your ticket; if you don’t have your complete ticket, we cannot admit you.
  • All patrons, staff, and volunteers must wear masks at all times. This helps keep our acting company safe! Our actors are the only people who cannot do their jobs while wearing a mask at a safe social distance. The only exception is when you are drinking while seated.
  • We are reducing seating capacity — there will be just 20 seats, and seating blocks will be spaced six feet apart.
  • There will be no will-call tickets or walk-up purchases allowed. Please bring your printed tickets with you, or have them showing on your smartphone when you arrive.
  • There will be a new timed entrance process. Details will be e-mailed to you prior to your performance.
  • There will be digital programs in place of paper programs. A QR code will be provided at the theater. and there will be links on the web site.
  • Foot traffic flow will be marked with 6-foot intervals both outside and within the theater as well as directed and timed audience entrances and exits.
  • We have installed a mobile order app for all purchases from the bar; this eliminates the need to stand in line, and enables us to deliver your drinks directly to where you are sitting.
  • You’ll see free-standing hand sanitizer stations in various locations throughout the theater.
  • The curtain to the lobby will be left open to increase air-flow. We have installed blackout curtains in our street windows to keep the theater dark for performances.
  • All areas in the Robert B. Moss Theatre will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis. High touch areas will be cleaned more frequently, in line with CDC, VDH, and Commonwealth of VA guidelines.
  • All performance personnel have been tested by RTP and have pledged to maintain negative status throughout the run of the show.
